[0 YoE, Student, Part-Time Lab/Engineering Assistant, United States]

Looking for feedback to help me land a part-time engineering-related role lab assistant, tech support, makerspace, research assistant, anything hands-on. Goal is to replace my current retail job with something more relevant to my field.

I’m a pre-bioengineering student transferring to a 4-year university in Spring 2027. Based in Chicagoland, not open to remote since I need part-time in-person work. I have an ongoing embedded systems internship and hands-on fabrication experience (3D printing, soldering, Fusion 360). Main concern is whether my resume positions me well for those kinds of roles or if it still reads too “retail.”
