Up to date tips for traveling across the US-Canada border by land?

I don’t want this to end up political. Please keep that to yourself.

Border policies are changing pretty rapidly right now, and I haven’t found many posts within the past year about any travel tips.

I know the sunflower lanyard tip for airports and such, but I will be crossing the border by car. I’m going with a group.

What tips do you all have to stay safe and make sure things run smoothly?

Here’s context for my symptoms, but it’s probably worth sharing tips that may not be relevant to me so that others who may need this can see! I have seizures (both absence and convulsive), tics where I twitch pretty aggressively and unexpectedly, a chronic cough, significant pain that sometimes causes me to make facial expressions that people sometimes misinterpret as being annoyed or angry at them, and weakness where I can only stand about 8 minutes at a time. I will be taking my cane and my walker, and potentially a wheelchair.

To be clear: this is not a “should I get a mobility aid” post. We have a million of those and it’s not exactly what I’m asking. I’m just trying to get a fair measure of what to expect from people with lived experience!

It’s seeming I’m likely to need a wheelchair soon due to the weakness FND has caused, ofc I’ve waited as long as possible since I know the potential risks, but it’s looking inevitable.

I want to know what to expect if it comes to that. What things changed for you? Especially if you have ever lived independently while having a wheelchair, which is my potential upcoming situation.

Have you found it restricts your ability to access places due to being a little less easy to maneuver? Have you had issues with social expectations from strangers when in public? Have you been able to go places independently while using a wheelchair? Have you had people who know you start acting differently?

Anything else that you can share would be fantastic! Thanks.
