Hi everyone! I’m about to finish my journal and I’m hoping you guys have some recommendations for my next one. The one I’m using is from Papyrus that I got at Marshalls. I tried searching for it again but it doesn’t seem to be available anymore.
I really enjoyed my journal but there are other specific features I’m hoping to find.
- I want a leather (fake or real) bound journal. I haven’t jumped on the refillable journal hype. I’m also open to like a fabric like cover. I like the texture feeling of leather and fabric.
- soft cover (meaning no hardcover journals).
- paper a little thic since I write with a fountain pen. I’d like a journal with good fountain pen paper
- I have pretty small handwriting so ideally I’d like either a lined or graphed paper that’s small
- a bookmark although it’s not a dealbreaker. I can always make one
- and one thing I wish my journal had was no margins
If you have any recommendations I would appreciate it a ton. Thank youuu

Hey everyone, thank you in advance for the help! I'm still organizing my thoughts, but I'll be as clear as possible.
My dad has a small printing business that he's been running for over 20+ years. He's not the most tech-savvy, so he's gotten by without a website or any advertisement. Most of his clients find him locally or through word of mouth. He has an Instagram for the business, but it's intermingled with his personal posts, too. Basically, there's no structure to his business.
He's not the best at managing the finances either. From what I can tell, he's living paycheck to paycheck, and sometimes he's struggling to pay the shop's rent. But then he has great moments, like when we get huge orders from event organizers.
I went to school for marketing, and I've been building my career. I'm now at a point where I'm doing well for myself, and I want to start helping my dad out with the shop.
I just don't know where to start.
Just brainstorming off the top of my head, I want to get him set up with a website and some business email addresses to keep things more professional. Not sure how this will work since he's been using the same Outlook email for his business forever. Then, I want to start tapping into our network. Get in contact with our past big clients for future projects or referrals. I actually already did this with someone we used to work with, but unfortunately, Nike (yup, the shoe company) forced them to follow a vendor list, even though they enjoyed my dad's work. I also want to run some advertisements and just really get his marketing going. I know I'll do well in this part.
But where I struggle is understanding how to take over the finances and the nitty-gritty of tracking our expenses. I admire my dad for working on his own for this long, but things are messy.
In my dad's ideal world, he would just focus on production (his craft), and I would handle everything else. I'm just overwhelmed with how to get started. I know I can do a good job with the marketing and sales side, but it's the 'running a business' part that I don't think I'm fully equipped for.
Any suggestions?
