Hello! I would love help finding the right lights for our home. I know little about lighting so I've been doing some research but I feel like I'm still having a tough time finding the right lights. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
We have an open floor plan and the living room/kitchen area is all one big room, and our home came with 14 integrated LED recessed retrofit downlights in the ceiling in this room. They are fixed at 4000k and the color looks overly clinical and harsh in our home. I would like to replace the lights with something that is warm and homey feeling, whereas now the area feels like it has office lighting.
The current lights we have are: Hyperikon Hyperdownlight6-402 5/6" downlight. 120v direct wired.
After doing somer research I have learned that I would like to get lights that are :
-Selectable CCT (which I will typically keep around 2700-3000k I think)
-Dimmable because we have a dimmer
-High lumens.. becuse our current lights are 980 lumens and even though I've learned that number of lumens should be bright, for some reason we often feel like our living area doesn't feel brightly lit enough, especially during the day. I would like ideally to purchase lights that are around the same number of lumens as our current ones are (or higher).
It seems like most retrofit lights at big box stores are 750 lumens. I'm fine to instead order from somewhere online. However, am I just overthinking the importance of lumens brightness, especially because we have a dimmer?
Thank you!
