I've been looking at working a commission only job to add to my regular job since it aligns easily with my schedule and the contacts I already have. I have met with about 4 companies and its a no brainer for them to hire me since its all commission and I should easily be able to make both of us 100k-300k plus a year depending how seriously I commit to it......now my complaint is just with these owners. I have met with 4 over the last 2 weeks. The first was just weird and badmouthed the other companies and would call at weird hours and then not respond for days. The 2nd said he would send me the offer letter last Friday and we would talk Monday if I had any follow up questions and in our conversations told me he had nothing planned for the weekend. I was really ready to start with them and was just waiting for the letter and here we are on Tuesday and he still hasnt sent anything. The 3rd I contacted back Monday because I hadnt heard from number 2 and the co-owner i first talked to had the vice president call me and we got along well and I told him id like to move forward and he said he would reach out to the other owner to set up a quick meeting and would get back to me and now its been another 24 hours and nothing. The 4th was the only one that had good constant communication but wanted to play about 30% less commission.
I am just confused with these people because they all sell themselves when we talk to convince me their company is the best option to join and then dont follow up. I have a large event this coming Monday where I will be able to talk with a lot of people to push the product and Id really like a company to attach with it and not just talk in hypotheticals of possible companies.
I've never worked in a commission job like this so maybe I'm out of touch but is it normal for people in these positions to not follow through like this? Should I reach out again to them or would that be too much pestering since I initiated the first contacts and the follow up meetings when they both said they wanted to bring me on board and both said they would get back to me with the offers.
I also already have a full time remote job and part time job that ive done for 15 years that I have a strong footprint in that is what would translate easily to this position..
