27M NYC 🏳️‍🌈 Offering: English 🇺🇸 || Seeking: French 🇫🇷

Howdy! I'm hoping to find a native French speaker from France to start penpal-ing with! I currently live in New York City, but was born and raised in Texas. I live with my husband and our cute little dog.

I'm into reading (currently reading On the Calculation of Volume II), history (I just spent the morning at the Met Cloisters museum), spending time with friends and plenty of other things that I can't remember right now. I also have a small collection of Ancient Roman coins that i started a few months ago.

I'm not really looking for whole language lessons or intense grammar studies (although I was an English teacher for a bit after college). Instead, I'd like to just practice talking about daily life in our respective countries and give each other a reason to consistently communicate in English/French!

Ideally for me, I'd like to send a few paragraphs via email once or twice a week 😄

[27/M] 📢 Looking for French penpal 🇫🇷

Bonjour ! I’ve been taking French classes for a bit and now im looking to meet some actual French folks.

Hoping to find someone who’d like to exchange longer messages here or via email in French or French/English once a week or so and who also doesn’t mind reading garbled French grammar :p

I’m into books, gaming, cybersecurity, history, etc. I’m also married and have a cute dog (and husband). No need to be interested in these same topics, I’d like to just hear about daily life in France too!

Bonus points if you’re not only 🇫🇷 but also 🏳️‍🌈

Bonsoir tout le monde!

I've recently memorized Déjeuner du matin by Jacques Prévert and... LOVED the process. The simplicity of the poem was great for me as a beginner in French plus memorizing poetry is just fun in and of itself. The repetition of the passé composé really helped me internalize that construction and see how it's used in several different contexts, which I found useful.

I'm wondering if you, mes amis, know of any other good, grammatically simple poems that would be helpful for a beginner?

Dit-moi, s'il vous plaît 😄
