I’m doing a BFR for someone who I’m not sure will be at the level needed to be signed off. If it comes to that, how do you let someone down easy while still being professional and clear?

For those of you who’ve been in this situation, how do you communicate that they’re not ready yet without it turning into a negative interaction?
