H-1B transfer for first full-time employee at a small firm

I’m the founder of a small firm and we’re considering sponsoring an H-1B transfer for someone who would be our first full-time employee.

The business is legitimate and operating, but we’re still very lean, so I’m trying to understand how risky this is in practice and what USCIS focuses on most in cases like this.

For anyone who has been through this from the employer side, what were the biggest issues? Specialty occupation? Right to control? Ability to pay? Proving the position is bona fide? Anything you wish you had prepared earlier?
