Rant
Air Force E-6 here (Cyber), under 10 years of service, 27 y/o.
I set my goal of becoming an Army Warrant Officer/153A almost two years ago now.
Just got word this week that my second attempt at a conditional release was denied in the “best interest of the Air Force/Space Force.”
Got LASIK to pursue this goal, scored a 60 on the SIFT, earned my bachelor’s degree, and I’m actively working on my master’s. I also have multiple high-level awards (Combatant Command NCO of the Year, etc.).
Seems like I won’t even get a chance to submit a package unless I separate, and by the time my current contract is up, I’ll be at 12 years of service.
I put in an Air Force OTS package to give that a shot now that the Army route probably isn’t happening. Really wanted a change of scenery. I love helicopters and would’ve loved the opportunity to potentially pursue being part of the 160th.
The Air Force selected one helo pilot last board 🙃, and only 17 pilots total for OTS, so those odds are slim too. I know even the Army route wouldn’t have been guaranteed, but not even getting the chance just blows.
