As the title says I’m looking to apply to join local 513 to settle down. I’m from the area just been traveling for a while non-union. Just a couple questions for anyone out of that local.

1. I have non union rigging experience (about 6yrs) and have my NCCER Advanced would that help with the process?
2. How is it as a rigger? I know there are a few crane companies in the city/surrounding area but is the work consistent or hit and miss?
3. Is the IUOE the right union to join for rigging? That’s truthfully all I’d like to do. I understand I would most likely have to start over money wise and I’m ok with that.
4. How long is the application and apprenticeship process? I’ve heard a couple months all the way out to 18 months from some posts and online forums.
