Bit of a weird one but Im at a crossroads and looking for some guidance.

Went to a Top10 University for undergrad for Econ, was aiming for finance and had a MSc lined up at a Top 3 uni for Econ and finance. But the summer between suffered a family passing and had to step into the family business.

Controlled it and grew it over the course of 5 years, revenues in the 8 digits, ebitda in 7 digits. But due to industry decline and several shocks looking to wind it down.

I want to pick up where I left off and somehow break into finance, but I have no clue what to target.. I feel like I completely missed the pipeline, and have no clue where I can even wedge myself into.

Is the only realistic option for me to break in an MBA?

Feeling a bit uncertain as to next potential moves in my career.

For context:
Late 20s, fresh out of university had to step into family business due to personal reasons, directly to the helm.

The business is adjacent to the IT/Telecommunications space, international presence with revenue in the 8 figure range.

I picked it up and have ran it for years, with steady growth, but due to strategic and industry wide issues its looking like we’re going to have to wind it down.

My question is where do I go from here? I feel almost behind in the sense of finding a regular job, not having the somewhat average route. I need time off from the stress of running a business but don’t see a clear role to target.

I also want to distance myself from the IT/Telecoms space, have a degree in Economics and was always geared to a Finance/Strategic role.

Would appreciate input as to potential routes to explore.
