Hey all, just joined this sub whilst im waiting 6 weeks for my letter from the physio i have been referred to...GP seems to think its muscular, but it starts to worry me now so i thought i will make a post here in case anyone had something similar.
Here is my summary from chatgpt from our consultations:
Summary of Lower Back Pain (6 months)
I’ve had lower back pain for approximately 6 months, which I initially noticed after yoga, although there was no specific injury or pain during the activity.
The pain was mainly in the lower back, started as a very stiff lower back that was very painful when sneezing, coughing, then changed to slightly to the right side, and does not consistently radiate down the leg.
Over time, the pain has:
Improved in general movement and flexibility
Become more localized rather than widespread
Current main symptoms:
Pain when sitting and especially when standing up from sitting (sharp/stabbing pain that can turn into a short ache, then improves after a few minutes of walking)
Pain when bending forward (unable to fully bend to 90° comfortably)
Pain when coughing or sneezing
Sharp pain in the lower back when lifting/straightening legs while sitting, which stops immediately when lowering the legs
Occasional dull ache in the right thigh, mainly when sitting (not below the knee)
Activities:
Walking and light movement feel fine and often relieve symptoms
Dancing is also generally pain-free
Symptoms are worse with prolonged sitting or flexed positions
Response to exercise:
Short sessions of core/stability exercises significantly reduce pain temporarily
Pain with movements (e.g. standing up or leg lifting) is less intense after exercise
Other relevant points:
No significant numbness, tingling, or weakness
No pain waking me at night
Pain is position- and movement-dependent, not constant
Main concern:
Persistent pain with sitting and transitions (especially standing up), and whether this could be related to a disc issue or require further assessment or treatment.
So difference is now ( int he last week or so ) that i have difficulty walking sometimes , i cannot make big steps, just smaller ones otherwise there is pain going up my leg. This is not always though , today i just have stiff lower back, almost down to my tailbone, but my walking seems ok. I still cannot lift my right leg up from sitting but left leg i can lift without pain. I dont have sharp stabbing pains after standing up but it does hurt in a stiff way to stand up. I do feel squeezing pain mainly in my right leg sometimes, sometimes shaking, but again not always, and its not an electric shock kind of feeling that everyone describes for bulging discs and nerve irritation. Couging and sneezing still makes it very painful for a few minutes .
If anyone can share anything from their journey i would appreciate it! I am doing exercises to strengthen my core but as i have no idea if it makes it better or worse or what intensity should i be doing, its a bit difficult to navigate this.
Thank you
