Hi - I am an Asian woman who was walking to the public library for class this morning. When I was in front of the entrance, someone shoved me extremely hard intentionally. I lost my balance trying to not fall down. Him and I argued inside of the library about why he pushed me and he kept saying different things like "you blocked me for a long time", "I didn't push you" and "this Asian woman said I pushed her, it happens all the time, Asians against Black people" all while recording me with his phone. He made many comments about my race. He left before the police arrived but they took my report. The library has CCTV footage. I am sore from where I was pushed (went to the doctor to be checked) and am extremely scared to return to the library (a staffer said they had seen him before).

Could this be considered a hate crime or any other crime? And will NYPD investigate based on the report?
