Matt Whalen / TruSmile Media / Whalen Productions: DO NOT HIRE
DO NOT HIRE MATT WHALEN OF TRUSMILE MEDIA. We hired Matt Whalen of TruSmile Media (formerly Whalen Productions) for our wedding photography and videography a couple years ago. It seems that he has rebranded under a new company name in order to avoid the negative reviews tied to his old company, Whalen Productions. While we loved the photos we received, our experience with the video process was extremely frustrating. After the wedding, communication became very inconsistent and we spent months following up with no response before eventually receiving our wedding video.
After the wedding, I also provided a generous tip and specifically asked that it be split between the two assistant photographers who worked our wedding. We were later informed that the assistants allegedly did not receive any portion of the tip and were allegedly not paid for their work that day.
After sharing our experience and reading other reviews online, we were disappointed to see similar complaints regarding communication and professionalism. We did not see these reviews before hiring him, because he had rebranded from his previous company to avoid those negative reviews. TruSmile Media will now be his SECOND time rebranding to avoid negative reviews.
Based on our experience, we would not hire or recommend TruSmile Media or Matt Whalen. We strongly encourage anyone considering booking to thoroughly research reviews on Matt Whalen, Whalen Productions and Whalen Photography.
