What are you guys' hopes for the third game?
I've been thinking recently about the third game that's supposed to be in the works. Fallen Order came out in 2019, Survivor in 2023. If we followed the 4-year trend, the third game would be in 2027. Now, I don't think it will be that soon, since we've heard so little about it, but I'd love to be wrong. I also wouldn't mind if they waited longer to release it, so it launches properly. Delaying release to make improvements is something I can get behind.
But what story beats would you like? What characters, locations, or lore would you guys wanna see shown? I know what I'd like to see.
For lore, I think I'd want to delve deep into ancient Sith lore. Fallen Order had us exploring Zeffo ruins; Survivor had us investigating High Republic locations, so I think game 3 could go in a different direction and have us travel through Sith ruins. A nice way to introduce this would be to have Cal discover something evil stirring in Tanalorr, something that predates most of the history he knows. That would lead him to investigate ancient Sith worlds like Moraband and Malachor.
This would also pave the way for the possibility of seeing Maul in some form. I'd personally love to see Maul and what kind of interactions he'd have with Cal. It would all depend on when in Maul's timeline we see him, but I like to think all this could take place before he appears in Star Wars Rebels. I love Maul, so it'd be cool if he were more than just a cameo (but that's just me).
As for other worlds to explore (besides Moraband or Malachor), I'd love to see Mustafar, Naboo, or Mandalore (all well-known and popular worlds), but also some worlds we all know less about, like Alderaan, Mon Cala, Umbara, Felucia, or Ryloth. Worlds that we know of, but not much more.
As for villains, it'd be very interesting if Maul were in the mix. He's no longer a Sith and doesn't align himself with the Empire, so it's more likely Cal could see him as an ally (very reluctantly). I'd love to see more inquisitors, since we only saw one at the start of Survivor. Either they could introduce new ones, or use ones that canonically are alive and able to participate. We could see the Grand Inquisitor, the 5th Brother, the 4th Sister, or the 7th Sister.
Of course, we have to consider Darth Vader. Since he appeared in the previous 2 games, it's almost a given he appears here. What I'm wondering is whether Cal will actually fight him. That sort of ties into how they might end the trilogy, whether Cal survives or not.
Gameplay-wise, I don't know what to really wish for. We got a lot out of the last game. A couple of new stances wouldn't go amiss. Unique saber weapons like the saber staff or the saber whip could always be good.
