The Spanish arrived in the Americas in the sixteenth century, and they had 3 goals: God, Glory, and Gold. Lots, and lots of gold. Gold is an extremely important and precious commodity, and back in the sixteenth century, it was a necessity. So, when Christopher Columbus “discovered” the Americas for the first time, the way he got the royalty of Spain to send ships was by saying there was so much gold, there could be a gold nugget for every citizen in Spain. Of course, he was SEVERELY lying, but the king and queen didn’t care enough to fact check his claims at all. So, there were ships sent out with Conquistadors, and essentially…they ransacked the American Natives so damn hard that they brought diseases with them to ransack the natives even harder. And when there wasn’t “gold for every citizen of Spain”, they just started enslaving natives. They looked at them like a handler looks at their misbehaving cattle. And they squeezed every last drop(let’s larp) out of the natives until they had no more to give.
