Who helps out the parents in the family (in Igbo Culture)?

I'm the youngest (28F) of my siblings and the only daughter, and I have two older brothers. My mom always tells me that in Igbo culture the daughter(s) in the family are supposed to gather her siblings to plan out how to help their parents out (l assume financially) especially as the parents get older.
Is this true in African Igbo culture or is my mom just making this up?
