2:48 realistic? (BQ)
Hoping to go for a BQ (2:48 to be safe) at the Light at the End of the Tunnel Marathon on Aug 9th in WA. For my running history, I went from a 3:21 marathon in May 2025 to a 2:58 in February 2026 after beginning to run seriously in November 2024. I also have PRs of 17:37 in the 5K (Nov 2025) and 1:23:50 in the half (Dec 2025). For my last marathon build, I averaged around 50 MPW while peaking at 65. Since that marathon, I’ve averaged around 35 MPW, but I’m currently building back up and running around 55 MPW with the plan to stay around 60+ and peak around 75 for this block. For recent fitness indicators, I ran a 1:02 10 miler about 4 weeks ago. The marathon in Aug is a downhill course, losing about 1k feet. What do you guys think?
