Poland just had a HQ visit and it was super weird. First of all, the non-HQ program (you know the little parts around the two main talks) were all about encouraging bethel service. It was stressed multiple times how Bethel is now accepting 18 year olds and there was an interview with 4 very young people talking about how much they love it.
The classic „aren’t we full of appreciation” crap makes me nauseous at this point.
The HQ talk was given by that helper from the „peak physical form” meme who looks like Boss Nass from the first Star Wars movie (75% of you will hopefully now know who I am talking about).
Anyway, it felt like he went completely off script. They showed photos from the Revelation book which… goddamn I didn’t see that coming.
He talked about how Jehovah having a green rainbow around him directly means he is very peaceful and calm. Seems we can just pull anything out of Revelation to fit our narrative at this point hah. Of course ignoring the bits where our loving God tortures people with lion, horse, scorpion, locust chimeras.
He had this super weird bit where he made everyone imagine he is in service with his „imaginary” children (because he has none). He simulated knocking on doors and leaving tracts with nobody at home and then the angels seeing that person react positively.
The strangest part was when he set out this scenario where two construction workers saw this imaginary family in service and one of them said ”look at those fools„ and the other responded with „I don’t know man… those JWs knew about the ’BAD BLOOD’ long before the rest of us did„.
Polish people don’t understand the power of the definite article so I think it got lost in translation but I think he might need to explain what „the bad blood” he is referring to.
All in all maybe a quarter of the content was actually bible supported reasoning while the rest was blatant emotional manipulation. In the prayer he actually said something along the lines of „help us God to be absolutely loyal to your organisation”.
All of this paired with the whole young people bit at the start…. a cult sandwich. Seemed more obvious then usual this time.
