Need help with fey villain motivations
If you are in the Gates of Arcadia campaign, do not read ahead.
>!I am finishing Act2 of a campaign and about to head into the end game Act3. My players have been trapped in a bubble dimension since session 1. (we did The Quiet Year to determine the layout). They learned about the people who used to live in the area a long time ago and the gods they worshiped. Each player had a connection to one of the 4 gods, the fifth player had a different connection, she was a clone of the moon goddess.!<
>!Blah blah blah, they have gone back in time 1000 years to when those gods were ruling and are thrust into an effort to kill those gods. They were approached by the brother of the sun god who told them their father wants to abdicate and as first born the current sun god must return, but this brother wants the throne instead so asks the party to help him kill the sun god. They refuse.!<
>!blah blah blah they come to find out the gods aren't actually gods, they are archfey. Sun and moon ran away so they could be together and they made this bubble dimension. They hoped to become gods by getting enough followers but it hasn't all gone according to plan and time is up. Currently sun's younger brother is trying to kill him and has already killed moon. The lovers son was turned into a tree by the father to stop him from freeing the people living there. The daughter ran away to the prime material.!<
>!A faction who has wanted to kill the gods since before the brother showed up is trying to recruit the party (they killed moon, which is the cleric's mother she never met). They however are about to go back to the sun god with an offering of a traitor's dead body. A representative of the anti-god faction they broke out of prison (and has come onto their side) has tried to explain why they want to kill the gods. However being stuck inside the bubble with no way to leave has not swayed the parties minds.!<
>!If they do nothing the brother has been poking holes in the bubble which will eventually collapse it and the dimension will be added to the feywild and any archfey can descend upon it and force things as they please. (Court of Sun and Moon both want their children returned.)!<
>!What are some reasons I can use to paint these sun/moon gods as villains to more muddy the waters on who the party should be aligned with.!<
