It coccured to me watching pieces of urbanist content that Star Trek, being made by Americans, shows an experience of the world, and of being itself, that is reflective of a car-oriented life. That is, it reflects motonormative experiences. This is similar to how Star Wars evokes WW2 Pacific Naval warfare, despite being in space and about space ships.
The direct contrast is a show like Dr. Who which reflects a more public transportation-oriented experience.
