Something I noticed is that the way he manipulates people is by convincing them that they’ll be abandoned the same way he was. That’s why it’s so effective, cause it’s all based on his own raw trauma. We see this with Scaramouche and the Traveler, he basically tells them that they don’t belong and that no one will accept them, which is his exact reality. He makes them suffer by making them think they have no choice but to be a monster, just like him.
