Hi everyone. I'm going to Dm a new campaign in about a month. I had the idea to make it about an antique and magical store. The PCs will work in the store and they will retrieve important and magical items to obtain prestige for the store. Each one of them will have their own reasons to work there (to discover smth about their past, to hide from someone...) and they will be rewarded for their work by helping them advance in their own problems. They will also have to deal with a rival store that wants to obtain those same items.
The characters will have to investigate in order to get the items. Some other times they will have to haggle and negotiate. Etc...
The issue I'm having is that I don't know how to make it less repetitive and more interesting. Of course, maybe they retrieve an item, other times they defend the ones they have, other times they work on their own stories and objectives... But that might get repetitive.
And my second problem is that I don't think I have a clear objective for the campaign as a whole, so maybe getting different items feels random and not connected.
What do you think? Do I just need items related to the characters? Or is there another thing you recommend?
