Inner Ankle Pain and Impingement / Nerve Blocker
M27, 7 months post full rupture, non-op. Still dealing with inner-ankle pain and impingement, as well as limited RoM (knee to wall is ~-4inches). Although calf strength has somewhat progressed recently (almost able to do a single-leg calf raise), I have not been able to begin jogging or other plyo’s as of yet due to the ankle pain and limited range of motion.
Today I saw a Physiatrist (who I was referred to by my physio), who reviewed a recent ultrasound / x-ray I had done in addition to my other concerns feeling I am a few months behind where I should be. The Doctor acknowledged my concerns and pointed out that the limited RoM (specifically knee-to-wall distance and other dorsiflexion limitations) could be a mental blockage due to the pain I am feeling. To this point, she suggested we could try some temporary (3-4hrs) nerve blocking in a few different areas around the inner-ankle and see if during this time my RoM slightly increases. The thought then being if my RoM is slightly better during this time then it may be at least in-part a mental block that I am not pushing past.
Does anyone have experience with this or any other suggestions are this point?
