Do I need bond funds?

Bond funds allocation is currently 20%, but maybe this needs to be tied to my living expenses rather than an arbitrary percentage?

Something like this: keeping ~3 yrs worth of expenses in treasury/muni bonds and put the rest all in equity. This reserve should gradually increase to ~10 yrs as I approach retirement and gradually drop back down to 5 yrs after retirement.

Age: 45

Goal: Potentially retire in 10 years

Income/Expense: 450k gross combined; spend 1/3 save 1/3

Portfolio: 4m, with 20% in bond funds, 5% in cash/treasury

Other: pension worth 60k in today's dollars collectible in 10 years

My current stove is a Frigidaire FGEF3032. Because the back burns are weak but I want to cook in the back for maximum range hood coverage, I actually use a $65 induction cooktop from Amazon most of the time.

I've been thinking of upgrading to a cheap induction range, such as this one:

What do you think?

In a few years I may renovate my kitchen but for now I need to stick with "freestanding" stoves because I have Formica countertop with the mini backsplash. I think a slide-in would look bad.

I booked a car rental in Canada (coming from US) via Expedia. The price is $1139 USD. Expedia doesn't show any price in CAD. The rental company is Thrifty. I then immediately looked up the reservation on Thrifty's website using the confirmation # provided by Expedia. Thrift shows the price as $1693 CAD which is $1237 USD at current exchange rate.

I assume the real price is $1693 CAD at pick up. So how did Expedia got $1139 USD??? Do they use some internal currency conversion formula that's way too optimistic?
