tl;dr: freepik removed unlimited generations from their best models right before rebranding to magnific. replaced visible priority slot counters with a fake percentage bar. auto-refill charges people even when disabled. and now they want you to celebrate the new name while pretending nothing changed. New plan didn’t go as expected..
Here are just few horrible things that happened over the past few weeks.
unlimited is gone
nano banana pro, flux.2 flex, flux.2 max, gpt image 1.0, gpt image 1.5 - all moved from unlimited to credits. that was one of the main reasons why I was subscribed, as my workflow heavily depends on nano banana pro, and now I do not see a value in my subscription after that. The “unlimited” that they left for you is mostly works only for 1k quality and can generate only 1 picture.
they hid your usage numbers
this is the one that really pissed me off. they used to show you exactly how many priority generation slots you had left. clear number, easy to track. now they replaced it with a percentage "counter" that says i spent 32% of my generations at 455 out of 5000, when that's not even 15%. literally bait and switch with their own ui this is just unfair. we had an agreement for a specific amount of money and now they just roll out changes like this, changing terms whenever they feel like it, calling it "an experimental tracker, not a cap" and writing "Users can always continue generating even if the bar reaches 100%." are you serious? i'm 10000% sure that when i actually hit the limit they'll just tell me tough luck with some copy-paste bot response and that'll be it
support is copy-paste bots
someone got their account hacked, hundreds of images generated including porn, and freepik's response was to downgrade them to the free plan and blame "malware on your end." no ip logs provided, partial refund never arrived. case id posted publicly and still no resolution
credit costs are unpredictable
same type of generation can cost 60 credits one time and 134 the next. mystic 2.5 fluid is the worst offender. try budgeting your monthly credits when you don't even know what each generation will cost
the old good freepik is dead
and then they rebranded
right after all these changes - new name, new logo, magnific. 1m+ subscribers, press releases everywhere. and the timing is just... convenient. you downgrade the product, hide the numbers, and then generate a wave of positive press about your "new identity" that drowns out all the complaints
their ceo is literally a mod on the subreddit and used to personally explain every change. now? silence. the mods are left to gaslight everyone while the company celebrates its new name
not renewing. if you're considering magnific or whatever they're calling themselves now - at least try the free tier first and see what you actually get. and if you subscribe, use a virtual card
anyone else noticed these changes or am i going crazy?
