[discussion] Ankhseram's intention behind Mavis/Zeref's curse

I’m trying to understand Ankhseram’s curse less as a plot device and more as a punishment with a purpose.

Ankhseram cursed Zeref and Mavis for interfering with the boundary between life and death. The punishment was that the more they valued life, the more death they caused

I get the thematic conclusion that their mutual love essentially caused their respective curses to "kill" the other person, but my question is this:

Logically, why would mutual love be the thing that releases them? Why would Ankhseram allow their curse to be released?

For example, if someone’s driver’s license is suspended, it can be reinstated once they complete the required course. Or perhaps a medical quarantine where affected individuals may roam freely once they are no longer infected.

Is Zeref and Mavis’s ending similar? Did their mutual love somehow satisfy some “condition” or "purpose" of Ankhseram’s punishment?
