I took out a Flexiti loan a while back during COVID and fell behind on a few payments, which eventually went to collections. The balance originally started around $18,000 and is now down to roughly $7,000 because I’ve been making payments whenever I can.

Recently, I had a death in the family and finances have been very difficult, so I haven’t been able to keep up with the payment terms the collection agency wanted. They have been repeatedly threatening legal action and insisting I pay $2,500 to remain in “good standing.”

I genuinely cannot afford $2,500 right now. I’ve still been making payments of $500-1000 whenever possible, based on what I can manage. However, they continue to pressure me, saying it is not enough and threatening lawsuits or damage to my credit score.

They have also called my family members and, at times, spoken to them in an aggressive or disrespectful manner asking where I am and why I’m not answering my phone. I was told the specific person involved may have been fired, but the overall experience has been very stressful.
