Deck Staining Question

built a 500sqft deck and am ready to stain. I have received one quote for the following work:

  1. Soft-wash entire house (app 2000sqft)

  2. Soft-wash new deck in prep for stain

  3. Sand new deck, as necessary, in prep for stain

  4. Stain new deck, two coats.

  5. All materials included in the price.

Total: $1,500.

I've never stained and liken it to painting, which I don't enjoy. I understand this is super vague but does that sound like a good price or should I keep searching?

My initial thought is to take the family camping for the weekend and come home to a finished product. I can afford the work but do not want to pay more than I have to.

Wisconsin, HCOL area.

What say you, deck experts!

Give em' a break?

Good day, all

So I've been hunting private property for the last five seasons. This property is like a turkey goldmine; I've tagged out every year and I usually, in a 4-5 hour sit, have my choice of multiple, responsive toms. The largest group I have seen at once is near 30 birds with groups of 10-12 being common.

This year, it took me two sits to tag out and I did not see nearly as many birds, like 10 total, two toms. Thwre are no other hunters but there is a large population of coyotes, fox, bobcats, other predators.

My question is, should I let this property rest for a year or two? With so many toms taken over the past years, I am wondering if I am restructuring the flock too much.

I have access to public land but it is hard to make the switch with a 100% success rate. Also, as a hunter, I want to continue to hone my skills and this property does *not* require masterful skills or techniques.

I'm trying to be a good steward and looking for some pro opinions.

Thanks.

I am looking for a unique, vintage and/or artistic box call for display purposes. Budget is about $200. Anyone have any ideas? My calls are all "gamers" and wouldn't work. To give a better idea, this would be displayed with some vintage wooden duck decoys, a few walnut jewelry boxes I have made, etc. Best scenario, I could find something custom from a small, WI company.

Hints and thanks in advance!
