So I made my first perfume. I learned online(before I found this subreddit) that you can turn tinctures into a simple perfume. I also learned that honey can act as a fixative too.
So I created a magnolia flower tepal from the Magnolia fraseri( native to wv), and a clover honey tincutre as the fixative.
I did some trial runs with different ratios I found that her favorite ratio was the equal parts Magnolia and honey. Then I bought some bottles and let it rest.
Now it smells lovely when its sprayed on. But the smell dissapaits very quickly. Not just the top notes but most of the Magnolia smell as a whole. All that is left after 15 min is a faint sweet smell.
How can I make a longer lasting smell? Do I need to buy a synthesized fixative? And what in my process could I do better next time?
My goal is to create simple botanical based perfumes for my girlfriend to use.
