Got this thing with 20,000 kms on the clock. Won't tell ya how much I paid as it was probably a little too much.

So far I've just been messing about learning how to ride, took it up to 100kms and around a few twisties. Scared myself on one of them but had fun learning.

Now I'm looking to do a tear down of the bike, it had a service a week before I bought it and was warranted the day before also.

The plan is just oil, filter, check axle and bearings for grease. Inspect and potentially clean the air box and filter. Check and adjust valve clearance also.

The carb has some brown staining around it and (with my limited experience) the carb feels like it's running a little richer than I was expecting from a factory set carb. I'm likely going to do a rebuild and clean of the carb at some stage but I'm enjoying riding the bike too much at the moment to commit to having the bike out of action for a week or 2 while I figure out how to tune the thing.

What are some things i should inspect/service at this stage?

First bike, dr650 2016 with 20,000kms on the clock.

Spent a couple hours just learning to ride it, took it up to 100kms and around some twisties on the back roads. Nothing narly.

With what little experience I have riding bikes, it seems like a great bike to learn on, especially for taller fellas like me.

What would people recommend for my first tear down of the bike for maintenance. Full carb clean might be a bit much but I intend to check valve clearance and check the nsu. What are some other places I should really check or grease up?

On the subject of carbs there is a little brown stuff around it, I do intend to rebuild it at some stage as it feels like it runs a little richer than I was expecting from a factory set carb. I suspect the last owner maybe have meddled with it.
