Cars 2 was one of my favorite childhood movies, I watched it so many times as a kid without getting what was happening. It wasn’t until much later that I watched it while I actually had consciousness that I understood what it was about, and I found it even more enjoyable than I did as a kid, I was surprised to see the writing was actually pretty well done. Besides the aura Finn McMissile and the other new characters had, he was actually a well written character. The original Cars cast shined and were memorable even in the sequel where they kind of took a back seat. Cars 2 is probably my favorite movie out of the trilogy even though it is so thematically different. On the other hand, we have spirited away. I’ve been seeing this glazed so much, and when I finally got to watch it recently, not only did it barely make any sense (even if that’s the point), it was so incredibly boring that even watching it at 2x speed was a pain. I felt no attachment to any of the characters, and they were not memorable at all. I remember no names since all the character writing was bland and stale. I really struggle to see why it’s so highly praised and has won so many awards despite having some of the worst writing in a movie I’ve seen. In fact, I could confidently say spirited away is probably a top 3 worst movie of all time for me.
