I’m an Erasmus student in Germany and I may have fallen into a misleading magazine subscription trap.

After buying something from Saturn/MediaMarkt, I got an offer for Focus magazines that looked like a free bonus/promo. I signed up thinking it was free.

A few weeks later I received an invoice and immediately emailed them saying I didn’t realise it was a paid subscription. Now they claim the subscription runs until 2028 and are demanding around €382 with fees.

I already explained that I’m leaving Germany in June and even sent proof from my university, but they keep pushing for payment.

Has anyone dealt with PVZ / VSR Verlag / Focus subscriptions before? Any advice on German consumer law or cancellation rights would help a lot.
