Mostly done in GIMP. The ketch/arcadia ships are drawn in Illustrator by simply placing dozens and dozens of simple shapes to slowly trace/form them from a reference image. The moon is an edited public domain image, which I opened in 3D viewing software to heavily skew it, to look like it's a more correct angle for an orbit screen. The sun was drawn by hand in GIMP by my friend Myrzir. The design around the sun is a custom sacred geometry design I made in Illustrator, with a mathematical meaning tying it to the original Destiny 1 soundtrack's music theory. Finally, the "space" thing is a real world public domain nautical map I got from Wikimedia, and heavily edited to match the style of the D1 starmaps. For those who don't know, that's how the original D1 director was done-- the "nebula" are actually a nautical map of Puerto Princesa that they traced.
This is a combo of assets I've made over the last two years. The ketch was the part I did today. I thought it made for a super cool final image, so I figured I'd share it here. In case it wasn't obvious by my details above, absolutely no gen-AI was used in this. The ketch alone took me the entire evening today to "draw."
I hope someone here finds this cool!
