[M4A] Meeting with a mysterious and kind sorcerer (Part 1) [Urban fantasy] [Magic] [Comfort] [Strangers to..]

Hello everyone!❤️ I'm new writer here. I've seen so many cool script in this community and i wanted to try to write one too!

This is my first time doing something like that and i had so much fun! But please, be kind to me.

This script has two parts, both with more or less 2200 words

CW:

I'd prefer to give some cw even if they are not heavy because, you know, you never know what could happen. So, there are minor talking about burnout and negative thoughts. And a couple of course words.

Sooo, now comes the rules part:

-You can use my script to monetize in every platform you like, but please, if you use my story credit me as the scriptwriter!

I also would love to listen to the final product, so please share with me the link here on Reddit!

No problem if you want to paywall this story, but please, make It possible for me to listen to the script!

-Don't steal my ideas, or my work and please, don't use it to train AI. If you want to talk to me, don't be afraid and text me. I like to talk with other people!

-Genderflipping and small changes are allowed, you can even change Aiden's name if you genderflip this script. Just please, keep the Listener gender neutral and don't make major changes in the story.

Also, english is not my first language, so don't be afraid to correct my writing, every script is a chance to improve the language. Just please, be kind to me.

-Feel free to use music and sound effects if you'd like. The sound effects i put are just suggestions.

-I wrote dialogues and reactions of the Listener, but they are just for the VA, i hope this can help with the acting.

- I use bold for sound effects and italics for the Listener, settings and performing notes.

I also created some words for the spells that are Latin based, just letting you now.

And that's It! Thank you! Here we go!

Context: Urban Fantasy

In a world where negative emotions, when experienced with extreme intensity, take physical form and feed on human energy, certain individuals with magical abilities, called sorcerers, use their powers to fight these entities.

The Listener is a human who, for two years, has been unknowingly haunted by one of these curses. One night, however, without knowing how, the Listener gains the ability to see the curse feeding on them and flees in panic. Cornered in a dark, filthy alley, they are saved by Aiden, a second-level sorcerer who takes care of them and reveals the existence of this hidden world invisible to most people.

Characters:

Curse (C):

A curse that feeds on the Listener’s energy. It has no physical form, appearing as a small cloud of black smoke with two glowing green eyes. It is the antagonist of the story, determined to keep feeding on the Listener. When it speaks, its voice comes out as a whisper. It can hypnotize its victims and cannot be seen by ordinary people.

Aiden (A):

A sorcerer who purifies curses for a living.

At first glance, he may seem reserved, but he is actually calm, kind, and tends to care deeply about others. Even if he sometimes sounds bored when talking about his job, he takes it very seriously. He is a second-level sorcerer—skilled, confident, and aware of his own abilities.

He’s also… not great at picking up sarcasm.

Setting:

It’s the middle of the night, yet the sounds of the city still echo through the streets. In the distance, police sirens wail.

The scene opens in a dimly lit alley. Rain pours heavily.

SFX: Footsteps approaching.

At first, they’re fast, someone is running. Then they slow down… until they stop.

The Listener stops, placing a hand against the wall. They’re out of breath. Their head aches. Everything feels hazy.

A few seconds pass.

Then...

C: (whispering) Surrender. You can’t escape.

The Listener clutches their head.

C: (whispering) Give up. Give yourself to me. There’s no way out.

Listener: Stay away from me! Just leave me alone!

C: (whispering) Leave you alone? And why would I do that? It’s so entertaining watching you struggle. (laughs softly) It seems you can suddenly see and hear me. But it doesn’t matter anyway. Let me tell you something: you don’t stand a chance against me. Your energy is already slipping away.

Listener: W-What are you…? What do you want from me?

C (whispering): What am I? I’m the monster in your closet. I’m that heavy feeling in your chest when you’re home alone and fear tightens its grip on you…

You’ve been sleeping with the lights on lately, haven’t you? Just like a child afraid of the dark.

Listener: H-How do you know that…?

C: (laughing) Oh, I know everything about you. You can’t hide from me. You’re mi-

A: (in the distance) Piro! (It's pronunced like the Greek and Latin pronunciaton, so It’s like the ‘ee’ in see, but shorter and without stretching it: Pee-roh)

SFX: A magical projectile cuts through the air.

The curse is interrupted.

A tall man stands a few meters away from both the Listener and the Curse. His dark hair are tied back in a short ponytail. He wears a long brown leather coat.

His hand is raised, ready to strike again.

A: (cold, to curse) Found you.

C: (through clenched teeth) A sorcerer… what a hassle.

A: (under his breath, surprised) A curse that can talk…? How is that even possible?

The Curse immediately lunges at the Listener, snarling

SFX: Another magical shot blocks it.

A: (firm) Don’t even think about it. Step away from that human. Now. This is an order.

The Curse turns and attacks Aiden instead.

He reacts instantly, activating a defensive glyph hidden in his other hand.

SFX: Magical clash

A: Piro!

SFX: Another projectile hits the Curse.

Realizing it can’t win in its current state, the Curse snarls once again, then retreats, vanishing into nothing.

SFX: Fast footsteps approaching

Aiden rushes toward the Listener.

A: (to Listener) Hey! Hey, are you okay?!

The Listener is shaken, still leaning against the wall, one hand still on their forehead: Wh-what was that…?

A: (slightly surprised) You can see curses? …No, forget that. You don’t look okay at all. Take a deep breath. Try to calm down. Come on—breathe with me. In… (inhales) …and out. (exhales) Good. Again. In… and out.

The Listener’s legs give out. Aiden catches them just in time.

A: Whoa! Careful!

Listener: I… I don’t have any strength left…

Aiden pulls one of the Listener’s arms over his shoulders.

A: Hey, easy. I’ve got you. Lean on me. Come on, stay with me. This is not the time to pass out. First things first, we need to get you out of this filthy, dark alley. Do you live nearby?

Listener is hesitant: How can I trust you? How do I know you’re not one of those things?

A: Doesn’t look like you’ve got many options right now. (noticing they’re shaking) Look, I get it. You’re scared. That’s fair. But I promise, I’m not here to hurt you. I’m one of the good guys. Just trust me on this, alright? Where do you live?

Listener: My apartment… it’s a few hundred meters from here…

A: Good. That’s actually great. Alright, I’ll get you home. Think you can walk? Okay… slow. Nice and easy.

SFX: Slow footsteps in the rain

Listener: W-Who are you?

A: My name is Aiden. Don’t worry, you’re going to be okay.

Listener: Aiden…? And that thing you used back there… was that… magic?

A: Yeah. No point denying it. I’m a sorcerer. I’ll explain everything when we’re somewhere safe. For now, let’s just get out of here.

***

Setting:

New scene: we are in the Listener apartment. It's a small place. Rain can be still heard in the background, outside the windows.

SFX: Door opening, then closing. Rain continues faintly outside.

A: Aaaand here we are. Good thing you live close to where I found you, that saved us a lot of trouble.

Aiden helps the Listener sit down on a chair.

A: Take a deep breath. Try to relax. Once you feel a bit better, you should change out of those wet clothes. You got completely soaked, and if you don’t, you’ll soon get sick. Take your time. Then, when you’re ready, I’ll answer all your questions. I’ll be right here.

SFX: Footsteps walking away… then returning after a short time

The Listener comes back, now in dry clothes.

A: Ah, there you are. Welcome back. While you were gone, I took the liberty of hanging up my coat… and making some hot tea. You’re not the only one who got caught in the rain. At least the coat’s drying.

They both sit at the table.

SFX: Chair moving, cup placed on wooden table

Listener teases Aiden: Don’t sorcerers use umbrellas?

A: (takes a sip of tea) Hm? What kind of question is that? Of course we do.

I was just in a hurry and I didn’t think about it.

Listener: …I was being sarcastic.

A: Ohhh. That was sarcasm. Right. Uh... yeah, people often tell me I’m not great at picking up on that. Anyway, I could say the same about you. You were out there without an umbrella too. (Gentler) So… how are you feeling? A bit better?

The Listener chuckles softly, then thanks him.

A: No need to thank me.

Listener: Can I ask who you really are?

A: Who am I? Fair question. I mean- you just let a complete stranger into your home.

Look, I know we don’t know each other, but I promise I have no intention of hurting you. (takes a breath) Alright. Let’s start over: My name is Aiden, and I’m a second-level sorcerer. My job is to purify curses, like the one that was chasing you. Normally, regular people can’t see them. Or even sense them. The fact that you could… that’s highly unusual.

Listener: So… you’re like an exorcist?

A: (takes another sip of tea) No, no. I don’t really like that term. I prefer "sorcerer". When people hear “exorcist,” they start thinking about demons and angels and heaven and hell… all that f**king biblical sh*t. Not really my thing. I don’t believe in that stuff. Don’t get me wrong, if someone does, that’s their business. But as far as I’m concerned… it’s just not something I care about.

Listener: But I saw you use magic.

A: …Yeah. That. That was magic. (slight sarcastic tone, without realizing it) Turns out it’s real.

Listener: You said that like it was sarcasm.

A: Sar- no, I wasn’t- I’m serious! It is real!

(noticing the Listener chuckling) What’s so funny? I’m telling you the truth here.

Listener: Okay, okay! Sorry. Didn’t mean to offend you.

A: No, it’s fine. I’m not offended. (a few seconds of silence, then he clears his throat) Anyway… what about you? Tell me a bit about yourself. What’s your name? And more importantly: do you have any idea why that curse was targeting you?

The Listener tells him their name… and admits they have no idea.

A: (nodding) I see. So it just attacked you out of nowhere, and when I found you, you were already running. (light chuckle) Despite the… very strange circumstances, it’s nice to meet you. (tone turns serious) I’m sorry you got dragged into all this. (glances toward the windows) Before we go any further, though… we should add a bit more protection.

Listener: What do you mean?

SFX: Cup placed down. Footsteps toward the window.

A: I’m going to set up a few seals on the windows and the door. Just for tonight. Do you have any salt, by any chance?

Listener: salt? do you need salt for a ritual?

A: Ritual? (Rolling his eyes) That exorcist stuff! I told you I am not one of them, I am a sorcerer! I need it for a spell! Got It? A spell, not a ritual.

The Listener brings some salt.

A: Thanks. (Aiden takes some herbs from his pouch and mixes them with the salt, forming a new glyph.) Stay back for a second.

SFX: Ingredients are pulled out

A: (low, focused) Vinculum. (The "i" is pronunced in the same way of Piro)

SFX: Magic activating

A: There. (repeats the process at the door) Good. That should do it. Your energy should be hidden now. Curses won’t be able to sense you.

The Listener nods, then asks: You said you purify curses… but what is a curse, exactly?

A: (sitting back down) Fair question. A curse is basically a physical manifestation of negative energy. They can take different forms, but to sorcerers like me, they’re easy to recognize. They carry this… dark aura around them. If that thing was after you, it means something in your energy attracted it. Curses feed on negativity.

The more they consume, the stronger they get. The upside for us is: the more they feed, the easier they are to track. (slight pause) Tell me… has something bad happened to you recently? Something that hit you hard emotionally?

The Listener lowers their gaze… and nods.

A: (soft sigh) …Yeah. That explains it.

Everything, except how you were able to see it (muttering to himself) and how it could speak.

Listener: So… what happens now?

A: Nothing. You’re going to get some rest in your own bed, and I’m going to finish this job as soon as possible. I’d like to go home too, you know. I’m not paid enough for night shifts.

The Listener stays silent, staring down.

A: Aaaand you don’t look convinced at all.

Great. Babysitting wasn’t part of the job description either. Another reason to ask for a raise. (sighs, then softer) Hey… what’s wrong?

Listener: I can’t sleep.

A: You can’t sleep?

Listener: I’ve suffered from insomnia… for two years.

Aiden studies them more carefully now: something he hadn’t really done in the dark before.

A: (gentler) I didn’t notice earlier, but... those are some serious dark circles. You said two years?

The Listener nods.

A: And you didn’t have this problem before?

They shake their head.

A: (thinking) Then that curse has probably been feeding on you for a lot longer than I thought. No wonder you feel drained all the time.

The Listener explains everything. Aiden listens in silence.

A: So you kept working too much without taking care enough of yourself, uh? Yeah. Burnout can do that. When your energy drops too low, your body switches into survival mode. The habits you’ve built over the past two years… they made you an easy target. One of those things latched onto you, and started feeding. The result: Less and less energy… more and more negative thoughts.

The Listener is shocked: So that’s why I always feel exhausted…? Because of that thing?

A: Exactly. And now it doesn’t want to let go. Good thing I stepped in when I did.

When a curse attaches itself to a human, it feeds… until there’s nothing left. (pause) Which means… until the person dies.

The Listener’s eyes widen in fear.

A: (gentle, reassuring) Hey, don’t worry. I got there in time. That’s what we’re here for. Give it a few days, you’ll start feeling your energy come back. Now, what we need to figure out is why you can see curses… and why that one could communicate.

Listener: They usually can’t?

A: No. That’s extremely rare. Last time something like that happened… was over a century ago.

Listener: And what about me? Seeing them?

A: Same thing. Highly unusual. Only sorcerers can normally see curses, and it’s usually something you’re born with. Same as magic. I can’t explain why you suddenly developed it.

The Listener yawns.

A: (softly) Yeah… it’s catching up to you, huh? Can’t blame you, after everything you’ve been through. If this is the first time in two years you’re actually feeling sleepy… you should take it.

Listener: But I still have so many questions…

A: We can talk tomorrow night. I was planning to come back anyway, just to check on you. Here, this is my number (hands over a small piece of paper) If anything happens, you can call me.

The Listener thanks him.

A: Now go on. Get some rest. I'll see you tomorrow.

SFX: Chair moving as Aiden stands

The Listener doesn’t move. There’s a pause, hesitation, a bit of embarrassment.

A: …Hm? What is it?

Listener: I know this might sound strange, but… could you stay? At least until I fall asleep?

A: (caught off guard) Stay… until you fall asleep? I told you- I’m not a babysitter. And you’re clearly an adult.

Listener: It’s just… I’d feel safer. After everything that happened tonight.

Aiden exhales. He’s already given in.

A: …Alright. I’ll stay until you fall asleep.

The Listener lies down on the bed. Aiden sits in a nearby chair, watching over them.

Listener: Are you going to look for the curse?

A: (calm, quieter now) As soon as you’re asleep, yeah. I want to finish this as quickly as possible.

Listener: Do you think… now that I can see curses… I might be able to use magic too?

A: You mean, become a sorcerer? …I have no idea. But if you can, then yeah, that’s exactly what that would make you one.

The Listener yawns again.

A: (gentle) Don’t overthink it. Some questions don’t have answers yet. Just relax… let your body rest. You need it. We’ll deal with tomorrow… tomorrow.

The Listener’s eyes begin to close.

Listener (half-asleep): That curse... will it come back?

A: (after a small pause) I won’t rule it out. It seemed pretty determined to keep you to itself. But don’t think about that now… or you’ll end up having a restless night. Just focus on having a good night of sleep. I’ll handle the rest. (softer) I’m right here. I’ve got you.

The Listener finally drifts off to sleep.

SFX: Aiden standing up. Soft footsteps. Door opening.

Aiden stops at the doorway, glancing back.

A: (quietly) Goodnight. Sleep well.

SFX: Door closing behind him

A moment passes.

SFX: Subtle magical sound

Aiden activates one last protective spell.

A: (under his breath) Vinculum

SFX: Magic settles into place

A: (to self, but is referred to curse) And now I’m going to find you.
