My H&M jewellery tarnished so quickly, is there any way to save it?
I bought a pack of 3 rings and a necklace from H&M jewellery, and unfortunately the jewellery started tarnishing very quickly especially the rings. One of the rings began tarnishing within a week, while the necklace stayed fine for about a month before it also started losing its finish (now they look like copper jewellery).
I understand H&M isn’t a luxury jewellery brand, but I still expected the pieces to last longer with normal use. It’s frustrating because their clothing is usually decent quality, so I didn’t expect the jewellery to deteriorate this fast.
I’ve already tried a few cleaning methods, including toothpaste, baking soda with lime, and polishing. The toothpaste helped a little, but the baking soda actually damaged the ring further.
The ring is made from recycled zinc and the necklace from recycled stainless steel, so I’m wondering if there’s any safe way to restore or prevent further tarnishing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
