Experiences with Amitriptyline?

Hello! Long story short, I have been struggling with IC/ongoing UTIs for several months now (shortly after starting HRT), for which little has worked. I've been taking probiotics, I've increased my hydration exponentially, I've been avoiding caffeine + obvious acidic stuff like oranges and tomatoes + chocolate, etc (though I know the IC diet has extremely varied effectiveness), I've increased my fiber intake, and I've made some other pertinent (and limiting, to say the least) lifestyle choices, and yet I'm still getting burning/urgency on the reg with little answers from doctors as to what conclusively is causing this. Recently my doctor prescribed Amitriptyline, which she alleges to have helped another IC patient with their symptoms significantly. I'm cautious, though, because after looking into it briefly it seems to have very mixed results, some of which sound worse than the symptoms I'm dealing with right now. I also know it's an antidepressant, and as someone who was on Lexapro for a couple of years before going off of it I'm a little cautious to start a new antidepressant now, in case coming off of it is significantly difficult.

What are your experiences, positive or negative? Are there any major things I should be wary of? Thanks!
