Why I loved Quest Academy, a review

I'll preface this with the fact that I've only listened to the audiobooks, so I haven't touched book 6 yet. Daniel Wisniewski and Rebecca Woods crushed it BTW.

As the title suggests, I loved listening to the series. There's a few things that really stood out to me.

First, the MC has overpowered abilities. Like really overpowered. However, he's not overpowered. He's using his abilities to do marvelous things, but lacks knowledge. He needs mentors, guidance, corrections, and he makes mistakes. He also is uniquely powerful, but not the "most powerful." The way the abilities are broken down into the 5 different categories gives some apples to oranges comparisons. This makes it so you can't just say so and so is obviously the strongest.

Next, almost all of the dialog feels natural. It never felt like the conversations were put in purely for plot advancement. They truly felt like conversations the characters would be having at the moment. The humor is really casual and not forced or over the top.

Also, aside from the first book, none of the interpersonal relationships were cringy. The first book had a little while where I thought it was going to slip into harem territory, but it got past it quickly. The friendships, relationships, rivalries, and more were well built had a natural feeling.

Another thing is the small background details did an amazing job supplementing the story. Knowing about Chronos and the dragon, while not main plot relevant, it added some great flavor to the story.

Finally, there's just some really cool stuff going on. Crazy inventions, super powers, and combat. It just felt fun.

I really recommend this to anyone who enjoys super heroes, crafting, apocalypse, or just wants a fun read.
