I finally got my dream PC, but now I don’t feel like doing anything with it
For years, I’ve always been through some weird shenanigans with "gamer" laptops. I never had solid framerates and my gaming experience was always spoiled by thermal throttling or other issues.
I finally got a solid setup! Nothing really exceptional and most components looked pretty obvious to go for in my opinion. Here it is:
-AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
-AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT
-A pretty overkill M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD from Samsung
-32 gb of RAM
-EDIT for the monitor: the monitor is actually a flaw 😭 the goal is to get a QHD OLED one with 240 Hz. But currently I only got a 100 Hz FHD ips minifire so I’m kinda limited
But… after going through the whole driver install and updating process, and testing some games to see whether I really just could play anything without worrying too much about framerate, my mind went blank. Suddendly I’m just doomscrolling Steam, looking for new games, and staring at my wallpaper engine playlist with no idea how to enjoy my 3 day weekend.
I was thinking a lot about Warframe while building this new PC, but the game felt like a huge chore once I could play it without fps issues. It’s like.. it’s like before I was fighting "against my setup" and there was true hope for some kind of better tomorrow without lags, and now I’ve got nothing more to hope for and I got to kinda create my own purpose. I know how dumb this must sound, I feel bad for this.
I think this is common, kinda? But yeah it feels like a real bummer to go from excited and dreamy to "okay I don’t really feel like doing anything anymore". Have you experienced something like this? How did you guys handle your situation?
