How do intensives work?

For my degree I am required to do 6 credit points worth of OLE's. However, when I'm enrolling in my subjects I've noticed that many subjects are offered as an intensive or they are offered in the standard session 2 yet they are only 2 credit points.

Am I able to just do multiple 2 credit point subjects or intensives within the semester 2 teaching period until I have satisfied the 6 OLE credit points required? I'm a bit confused about how these electives work can anyone explain please?

Where do I start

For context I’m a first year student studying commerce (accounting major).

I’ve been applying for bookkeeping roles or similar level accounting roles to build up experience. However, I’ve come across that iconic issue: everyone’s looking for people with experience but the only way to get experience is by working in the very job they say you don’t have enough experience for.

Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to get my foot in the door so I can start building up primary exposure to the field.

I’ve seen many mixed opinions on this, some say it’s too hard some say it’s manageable and it depends on workload. As a BCom student is it possible to work part-time while still maintaining a high WAM? Does anyone do or know anyone who does this?

Also how does it affect your grades? At USyd they seem to distribute marks across everything, attendance, tutorials, participation etc so there’s less leeway in the live content you can miss as opposed to unis like MQ (which I’ve been to) that have a lot of flexibility and less attendance-based marks.
