I'm relatively new to MTGA. Tried out brawl for the first time and my opponent attacked me with Dina, Soul Steeper and Bloodthirsty Conqueror in play.

I'm wondering if the game intended for their abilities to loop over each other because it it effectively took me out from 30 health to 0.

If the game intended for this, is there any way to counter it when they attack?

For reference;

Dina, Soul Steeper: Whenever you gain life each opponent loses 1 life

Bloodthirsty Conqueror: whenever an opportunity loses life, you gain that much life.

Hope this isn't a stupid question since I'm still figuring out synergies
