I have Japanese Stiltgrass that is quickly taking over my pond. Usually it is green and lush like in my first pic, but yesterday I found a portion of it looking like the second picture. While I do plan on adding some sterile grass carp to my pond to help me while I continue to hand pull the stiltgrass out, I haven't added any chemicals to the water to kill it (nor do I intend to). Why is the stiltgrass that color? Is it hopefully dying?

I'm in Southern Missouri if that helps.
