The Gap Between Knowledge and Execution

Many people on this sub know many, many lucid dreaming techniques. The ones that they can do awake they do. While the ones when you are falling asleep they fail at. What is some wisdom to people that fail at this?

The Dream Recall Technique BETTER Than Dream Journal!!

This is excellent for people who currently can’t remember their dream, and ones trying to improve recall.

Technique made by me by the way. If someone already invented it then *sigh*.

I put much effort into thinking about what makes remembering dreams different than real life. It eventually came to me that to remember dreams you must remember what you were thinking. Remembering dreams is not the same as recalling the things done in a day (as many may believe). Dreams are similar to day dreams. If someone interrupts them then it is similar to someone waking you up. You forget (at least in the moment). If you can easily remember what you were day dreaming about hours after the fact, then you are likely to have good dream recall.

The Technique-

  1. Be more aware of your thoughts.
  2. At the end of the day (or multiple times a day) try to remember things you were thinking about at random times.
  3. When being woken up try to rem what you were thinking about and not what you were doing (or whatever you looked for before).

Yeah that’s mostly it. Will make more posts like this and earlier ones (you have probably seen some of them) if I get a lot of upvotes. Also sorry about the kinda click baity title, you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes.

Stephen LaBerge Was Recruited by the CIA During the Cold War

Stephen LaBerge was recruited for the CIA during the cold war to investigate Anomalous Cognition (AC).

AC is ”A form of information transfer in which all known sensorial stimuli are absent. That is, some individuals are able to gain access, by an as yet unknown process, to information that is not available to the known senatorial channels.”

I am not sure of the results of these studies. This is because they are difficult to sort through and find result, as they are very long.

They did not list ways that they induced lucid dreams on the subjects. It was likely that this was Stephen LaBerge’s job in this. It also mentioned “They will complete a lucid-dreaming home study course developed by the Lucidity Institute.” I do not know what this “lucid-dreaming home study course” was, but I may have relatives of it.

It’s not a singular pdf or webpage, but a whole bunch of them. This is it: https://web.archive.org/web/*/www.lucidity.com*

You can go deep diving into the pages and picking out interesting ones, but if you do I recommend you comment the ones you like so it’s easier for others that are lazy.

An ultimate technique FOR techniques!

This technique was not made by me but I haven’t seen it thrown around in a while. This technique is a very simple one (hopefully). So I hope you like it, or find it interesting.

We do and/or experience many certain things. These certain things happen on a regular basis normally. Because of this we can make techniques around these pillars, and therefore lucid dream more often.

You can make it anything that you want it to be, just has to be something you occasionally come across. This can be whenever you pass a door, or see a pine tree. This can be WHATEVER.

Once you get into a habit of putting a technique around it (reality check, or something akin to it) it will become another asset of your to lucid dreaming, and once you have enough it will significantly improve your chances.

The START technique (for beginner and advanced lucid dreamers)

I would like to say I did not create this method, but I found it while messing around with internet archive. This technique was created by Daniel Love, but I have put I bit of a twist on it.

The technique-

This technique is called “Socially Triggered Awareness Reality Test” but this technique also works for introverts so don’t worry (you don’t have to talk to anyone more than you usually do). Find something that people ask you about a lot (maybe it’s your long nails or your cracked computer). Whenever someone asks you about it, or notices it try to do reality checks (do ones that aren’t obvious).

Why it works-

Dreams often have you in social situations, mimicking ones in your waking life. Back in the Sahara if we practiced social situations in our dreams we were less likely to mess up and get excommunicated or whatever. So if in social situations there are reality checks then the dream will mimic these reality checks In the dream (aka you just got a DILD).

The technique is really simple, and you don’t really need to do anything extra. So I hope you liked the technique, and maybe you mix it in to your own habits and techniques you already use.

The SOVIET technique to lucid dreaming.

In Soviet ”phychonetics“ (a word used to describe a plethora of techniques involving the mind) there was one part that interest me. This was the words “lucid” next to the word “dreaming” appeared, so I was of course interested.

Let me quote the English translation of a book(?) about phychonetics.

The dreaming plane can be difficult to perceive normally because concentrated attention typically destroys its perception. Maintaining deconcentration allows retaining the perception of the dreaming images plane without destroying the plane, potentially enabling entrance into a lucid dream consciously.”

That might have been a bit difficult to understand. Let me put it into simpler terms of my interpretation.

The metaphorical “space” where dreams occur can be difficult to perceive with waking attention, as it usually separates the mind from the ”space” when waking attention is brought upon it. Keeping “deconcentration of attention*“ allows for the retention of the dream “space.”

Deconcentration of attention is described as “a technique opposed to concentration, during which attention covers the entire visual perceptual area [or any other plane of perception]. Either forming figures is stopped completely, or figures continue to be formed but are perceived all at the same time without any individual figure getting special attention.”

Another mentioning in the book(?) about lucid dreaming are here “Volumetric deconcentration can be practiced from planar deconcentration with closed eyes when perceiving the dreaming images plane […] as a technique to enter lucid dreaming consciously or to relive a memory.“ which basically said active deconcentrated attention of the eigengrau and visual thoughts can be used to lucid dream.

Use this information to your own will, maybe tweak how you use some techniques, or maybe do some more research than I did and make a whole technique. I thought this was helpful, hope you did too.
