I just found out about the train strike on May 15. The Frecciarossa I booked at 2:45 pm is not guaranteed. My flight arrives at 10:15 am. With possible EES delays & issues I'm not sure if we can make it for a guaranteed train at 2:15 pm. My husband has sleep issues, so waiting around for a guaranteed 4:45 train won't work. Our Venice hotel at this point is non-refundable.

I'm starting to think driving could be an option, from Malpensa to Mestre. It looks like it shouldn't be too challenging and I'd absolutely get the insurance.

I'd really appreciate any thoughts on this.

I'm struggling to choose where to stay on a last minute trip. Leaving Milan on the 21st, staying in Rome 26-31st. We're looking for beautiful but not expensive and not a ton of stair/hill climbing. Emphasis on laid back vibe and would love smaller restaurants where the locals go. No car, so will be on public transport. Thank you so much, my brain is freezing up with all the decisions in a short time.
