I’m going to Thailand in less than 2 weeks and I haven’t smoked since February 1st. Before this I used to smoke every day. I’d take t-breaks here and there, but mainly because smoking would completely ruin my appetite after a while. It would get to the point where I could barely eat unless I smoked, and then when I stopped, the t-breaks were awful. Sometimes I literally wouldn’t eat properly for nearly a week.
This is the longest break I’ve taken and I finally feel back to normal again. Appetite’s good, sleep’s better, everything feels balanced. But at the same time, I genuinely love smoking, and I can’t lie, the thought of breaking this t-break in Thailand somewhere beautiful with a sick view sounds amazing to me.
The problem is every single time I’ve taken a break before, I always end up straight back to smoking every day again. Doesn’t matter if the break was 2 weeks or 2 months. Once I start again, it slowly turns back into wake and bake, smoking out of boredom, making excuses to smoke, etc.
I’m there for 6 weeks and the mate I’m going with is probably the biggest stoner I know. Smokes all day every day, so realistically it’s gonna be hard not to fall back into it.
I think part of why I’ve managed this break is because I’ve actually got my life more together right now and I’m not just smoking 24/7 with nothing going on. But at the same time, every stoner knows if you really wanna smoke, you’ll make time for it.
So for the people who managed to go back to smoking without falling back into daily use, how did you actually do it? Did you set rules for yourself? Keep certain days smoke-free? Only smoke socially? And did any of you manage to stop it turning back into an everyday habit when you got home?
