Hi Everyone,
I work nights in manufacturing and used to work in mining. Tool tracking at every site I've worked has been paper logs, shared spreadsheets, or nothing at all.
I built a simple barcode scanning system for small to medium businesses on the side. It consists of a wall-mounted tablet and a barcode scanner. the work flow is easy and fits into how a pick already works — scan the shelf, grab the tool, go. When you are done scan them back in, everything logs to Excel in real time. No cloud, no subscription, runs on your local network.
This is early stage and I'm trying to figure out if it solves a real problem before I go further. I want to talk to people who actually manage tool cribs or equipment rooms. Not to pitch you anything but to get honest answers, I want to know how you currently track tools and what the most painful part of it is.
If you manage this problem day to day I'd genuinely appreciate 10 minutes of your time.
