Is this city for real?

Lend me your eyes, brethren! Am I the only one seeing this madness?

The law is strict. The police check every car for alcohol. Yet, look around! Every corner shop is stocked to the ceiling with mixers, tonics, and soda. Every intersection has a vendor selling chakna. The pan shops are loaded with tobacco. We are a "dry" city that is clearly very thirsty!

Landlords refuse to rent to bachelors unless they promise "no non-veg cooking." They act like meat is a sin. And yet... every single society has an egg shop sitting right at the gate. KFC and McDonald’s are packed every night. How can we say we are "veg" when the chicken bucket is the king of the city?

And don’t even get me started on the massage parlors! At least one in every residential tower! Like, wtf! In a city that acts so traditional, how is there a "spa" in every family building?

Is this some kind of collective delusion? Are we all just pretending to follow rules that nobody actually cares about?

Tell me, brethren-am I crazy, or is this city just one giant contradiction?

To those claiming this is AI: I'm channeling the energy (vibe) of an ancient orator. Think of J Caesar standing at a dusty crossroad, rallying the citizens to action with nothing but raw rhetoric and a vision!

And here is your em dash -

Why do women here stare so much?

A little background: i came here last month from delhi for job. I walk to my office, that's around a km from my flat. Occasionally, I'd wear sunglasses.

I've noticed women here staring. Like a lot. Continuous staring.

They can't tell I'm noticing this coz of sunglasses. Caught women looking back from car/scooty at intersection.

On one instance, caught a girl looking top to bottom to top while passing me. Our paths weren't on collision course so im sure she wasn't judging my traffic awareness.

Is this a normal thing?
