Is there such a thing as TOO much fiber?
Hello everyone! This is pretty straightforward, but all my researching has come back inconclusive, and I’m in a position right now where I can’t reliably see a physician specializing in blood sugar management to confirm or deny my worry.
I’ve seen citations from intestinal blockage to nutrient deficiencies from too much fiber in ones diet. As far as i can tell, most complications arise from adding too much too early, especially when your bodies not used to fiber intake, which is a hill i’ve long since passed, but i still worry if theres a ceiling, if my intake is excessive long-term.
All in all, i get around 40-50g of fiber a day. I’d say 20-23 of it comes from supplements, (pysilluim husk, oikos protein shakes, metamucil, gummies, benefiber) but i try to get most of it from whole foods, like chia and flax, veggies, lentils. It’s spread pretty evenly through the day, and i’ve eaten and have eaten at this amount for a while with no apparent, outward problems, but i still worry. Is this safe? Should i watch out? Cut back? What are your experiences?
Thank you so much for reading! :0)
