I'm not attempting to keep them, they live in a garden I'm restoring (someone long ago decided untreated wood logs were a good retaining wall) is there any way i can get them to leave without murder? It feels wrong to kill them just because i want a pretty garden but i got bit when i disturbed The Nest. Should I just toss the wood instead of attempting to mulch it? I figure no wood= no home and they will leave. But id rather not send them to the dump, or the wood honestly. I read borax and sugar will kill them but that's all i can find online nothing about a smell they hate or how to get them away without killing them. Thank you!

▲ 2 r/ants

I found a nest of carpenter ants in an old flower bed I'm restoring, i first thought of just getting termite killer because a couple bit me, but after some thinking i would have bit me too.... Is there any way to get them to move out? I intended to use the old wet logs as mulch (why toss what can be used) but the ants apparently enjoy the logs as is. Will they realize a big giant is messing with their home and move out? I moved some of the logs so i definitely disturbed The Nest.

I just want them to move out without hurting them to badly, like i get moving the nest can't be without loss but is rather that over using a poison (not to mention, squirrels, birds, some cats, occasionally a dog gets out, i would feel horrible if one got into the poison and got ill)
