Canvas Is Up, but CSUN Is Blocking Access

I am a Computer Science student at CSUN.

At 3:02 AM last night, after seeing reports that Canvas was up for some, I assumed that the backend was active, but CSUN IT was still redirecting traffic from "canvas.csun.edu". At 3:02 AM, as a lucky guess, I figured that "csun.instructure.com" would be working, and it was! I was able to get some, but not all, additional materials I need for my classes.

As of writing, Canvas is operational, but CSUN has revoked access. "csun.instructure.com" is still active, but when I try to regain access, the SSO integration rejects the sign-in request: "The application you have accessed is not registered for use with this service."

CSUN could re-enable access to Canvas right now, but is choosing not to, possibly for security/legal concerns. Canvas is up. Some of us would choose to use Canvas despite the administrative concerns.

If you want access to your study materials and want your concerns heard, contact CSUN Information Security Officer Kevin Krzewinski at iso@csun.edu . We need an update.

Update: Literally seconds after I posted this, the "csun.instructure.com" was re-enabled. Grab what you need.

Update 2: 10 minutes after I made this post (1:36 PM), I received the notice that CSUN was restoring access to Canvas.
